Sit-ups will give you strong tummy muscles, but won't shift the fat on top of them. Bodybuilders have a saying "Abs are built in the kitchen, not the gym". It's all about the diet for shifting that last bit of fat so your six pack is on display.
Cut out all the white carbs, and bsae your diet on fresh whole food, eggs, fish, meat, chicken, lots of green veg, olive oil, some dairy, some fruit, some wholegrains.

You should try using a fitness ball to do crunches. Increase the amount of reps you are doing each time.
Also try doing pilates leg raises. To do leg raises lie on your back on the floor, place your hands under your butt for support and lift your legs up to a 90 degree angle, and bring them as far as you can without your lower back leaving the ground. Repeat and increase the amount you do each week. This exercise might seem like this is mainly for your legs, but it really works out your lower ab muscles. Try watching a video on you tube if you don't understand the way I explained it.
