Hello sketch:

You should pay child support because your child needs to eat. It doesn't matter what anybody else wants. You need to speak for your child.

You "HAVE TO" pay if the court orders it. And/or if the mother or child receives welfare and the state comes after you for repayment.

You "should" pay child support since you are the father of the child and it is the moral thing to do

Child support payments are ordered by a court. It's not up to the grandmother to bring you to court over support, its up to the mother. Though she may be required to do so if she applies for public assistance.

However, supporting your child is a moral obligation. You helped bring the child into the world. You have a moral obligation to support that child financially and emotionally.

And if you do the right thing and voluntarily pay even if there is no child support order in place, be sure that you keep proof of payment in case they come after you later. Does grandmother take care of the child?
