In 2008 I was caught shoplifting and had some weed on me. I went to court and they let me take a diversion program. I took two programs, one for drugs and one for theft. Now, almost three years later some things have come up. I need to get a criminal record check because some one I live with is applying for the police force. They do not know I have been arrested at all. I was just wondering if this will show up in my records. I was looking through all the papers I was given at my court date but I doesn't if I was actually charged or what happens after I finis the diversion programs. Does finishing the programs give me a conditional discharge? Or is it completely gone? Also, will this hurt the chances of the girl I live with? She has absolutely no idea I was ever charged and didn't know me at the time.

It will show up in a report that the police will see. If you were having a report ran for "Walmart" or "Home Depo" no it would not show up, but the police will be able to see any arrest even if found not guilty and any arrest and how it was disposed of ( diversion program)

But where are you at? I was in "police departments" or law enforcement agency for years, federal, state and even local. And never did any of my family ever have a background check

I'm in ontario. I'm not even a hundred percent sure if they are doing a criminal record check. She just asked for my date of birth and full name so she could tell them everyone she lived with and it freaked me out.

Yes, they have to put down who they live with, and list any and all family members. They may even ask if you were ever "convicted" of a crime and you can still say no, since a diversion after it is over is not considered a conviction.
