While driving, temp gauge rises then falls, low coolant light on dash appears, car stalls. Unable to start. Engine will turn over. Radio and lights work. Please help. Out of work and low on cash. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you

The engine may have overheated enough to warp the aluminum head, damage the valves, and blow the head gasket. This is common in these situations and would prevent the engine from starting, since there's no real compression. Repairs could run $2,500+. Begin by checking compression.

I had something happened to me the same way in my 97 Monte Carlo LS it started with the low coolant light also coming on and off. Than I notice my heat gauge was way high but then would drop. Before anything else happened I flushed the radiator and ran water threw it a few times with a water hose.
Sure enough it didn't do it anymore.
I also had changed the oil, oil filter and spark plugs the same day whether it needed it or not.
Also I notice their was slug in my radiator do to the red antifreeze in it. I recommend you switch it over to green if yours is the same way.
As for your car not starting I would have to say it would have to do something with the fuel. I would start with the cheapest parts first and work your way up.
I think You can go to auto zone to rent some kind of reader that hooks into your car some how to tell you what works and what doesn't.
My brother uses something similar from them, but would not recommend it if you do not know what you are doing.
