Toilet will not flush and wonder if the reassembly of the plunger mechanism makes a difference? I replaced the large washer made from car tube (no commercial one available) this I placed at the top of the assembly followed by a ceramic disc, flat on one side with circular rings on the other side. I placed the rubber washer on top followed by the circular rings side of the disc with the flat side down.
The toilet was flushing perfectly but the pan became blocked, stopped flushing and the tenants called in a plumber who took the toilet apart and refitted the plunger as he thought correct —— the toilet still didn't flush. So I tried a lot of things since then with no success. Any advice would be thankfully received. By the way I had to pay the plumber!

When you say "toilet won't flush", what exactly do you mean ? Please, be more specific... Back to you... Milo

Hi Milo, thanks for replying. When I press down the handle to flush the toilet it will not flush, even though the cistern is full of water.
The plunger attached to the handle rises as I press the handle but does not start the flushing action.
