So I have not been on birth control for over a year and have been sexually active with my long time boyfriend. I usually get my period every 25-28 days and it has been 40 days since my last period. I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was negative. I would have thought in that long of time it would be accurate. I feel sick sometimes and my lower back has been hurting. I had light cramping for a week and 2 days but it has gone away now. I have never missed a period and I am under no amount of stress. The only thing is that I have been on a low carb diet for 2 weeks. What could be going on?

Diet, stress, pregnancy. There are many different factors that might effect your period. Even hormonal changes.
Best thing is go to the doctor get a blood test to confirm your not pregnant and work from that.

What is your weight? If you are significantly underweight, you will not have a period. Have you ever had issues with food?

What time of day did you take the HPT?
First morning urine is most accurate.
Also, HPTs are known for false negatives. Maybe you should take another one in the morning.

I am not under weight. If anything maybe a little over. I took the test in the afternoon after work. I will take it tomorrow in the morning. I did not want to go to the doctor until I see that it is a positive result or I get my period because my insurance does not start for 3 months, although if I was pregnant I would obviously go and be willing to spend the money. I am 22 and my periods have been on time always. I just think it is weird that it was negative. I would be excited if I was or was not, either way! Just confused and looking for advice.

Imagine if you are pregnant but it still shows a negative. It should not cost that much to get a blood test which is more accurate.
How about moving to canada. Then you do not have to worry about insurance.

I'D still get a blood test. I'm guessing you started a new job? That's why the insurance doesn't kick in for 3 months? In some states like New Jersey with open enrollment related to a new job pregnancy isn't considered a pre existing conditon. Still its better to know than keep wondering and waiting for your period.
