Don't a lot of people talk to pets... and plants?

Hello k:
I talk to my cat all the time. I keep asking her WHEN she's going to start paying rent... She said next week.

There's nothing wrong with talking to your pets. It's only a problem if you think they talk back.
Exy, we need to talk dear. ;)

I keep telling my dog to get a job. He doesn't listen and keeps on demanding I throw his toys for him.

I talk to my dogs all the time, I know they know what I am saying, but they NEVER respond. Jerks.
ERROR: You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to southamerica again.
That was hilarious!
I talk to my dogs... they tell me to be quiet 'cause I talk too much!

Bella, I talk to mine too, they look at me with all this wisdom, as if they know everything, and then, despite all my requests, they still go poo in my sons bedroom. Right Chewy? :(
Mine can't figure out what vehicle to get in when I ask them if they want to go for a ride!
DoG... did I say that out loud? Quit barking! We aren't going anywhere!

J! I'm sitting by your car! When are we going to the store?
Bark!

Ha! I love dogs and cats (and other furry creatures), despite the fact that they ultimately care about food, toys, and pooping. At least Eli greets me every day with more enthusiasm than anyone at work or my other frequents.

Oh the greetings are great. No matter how long you're gone (1 minute or 6 hours) they act like you've been gone forever, and great you like a long lost relative.
J, I don't want to go in the van. I want to walk! Can I pee on the fire hydrant?

I would love the enthusiasm at the school or work, but not the kisses and licks lol.

I love the licks, it's the jumping and barking I can do without.
Of course I have three little woofers, so the barking, jumping and licking is excessive.

Hahah SA, my Max would sound like Rocky when he was younger, but now that he's 11, I picture him more like Harrison Ford. My Lady would sound like Ann from America's Next Top Model.
My dogs are telling me to go to bed.

I talk to my dogs all the time, they know quite a few common words... sadly most of them relate to food :D
Dogs are smart animals, they do understand when you talk to them... not necessarily in the way we understand each other, but they do recognize words and tone of voice.

I am trying to understand why talking to your beagle is a problem? I think not talking to it would be more of a concern than anything, they are very smart and crave the sound of your voice, they do understand more than you know,I wouldn't be at all surprised if you too talk to your beagle but just aren't noticing it! I think it is healthy, natural and studies have shown it decreases stress and increases life expectancy... so go ahead talk to your beagle and be proud!

I talk to my dogs all the time :) Nothing strange about it. To be honest, I think a lot of people talk to their animals.
