View Full Version : Cyberbullying about Homosexuality, what should I do?

I'm twelve years old. Recently, there have been a lot of rumours going around my school about me, saying that I'm a lesbian, and stuff like that. I wouldn't care what thought, if they weren't so homophobic. To be honest, I'm only 12, and I'm not really sure about my sexuality yet. I think I might be bi, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I woke up one morning and checked my Facebook, to find that some girl that I knew from school, and I thought was a sort of friend, but I wasn't close with her, had sent me a message. The message said : "i ain't being rude or anything yeah but please delete me cause i don't like speaking to gays or lesbians and the whole year knows you are so." I felt quite offended, seen as she could've just deleted me herself, but she decided to make a big thing of it.

Just as I was about to reply, I saw that she had commented on some of my photos, so I checked it out. She had commented on 3 photos of mine, one taken when I was about 10, one when I was about 8 and one when I was 1 or 2, with my older sister, who was about 5 or 6. She wrote : "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING? THATS HOW YOU KNOW YOU'RE A LES, NO GIRL WANTS YOU, SO STOP". In this picture, I had my hair in a silly style, I was only 8... On the one where I was 10, she wrote : "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU WEARING, ERRR? FRANKENSTEINS WIFE CALLED, AND WANTS HER CLOTHES BACK!! HAHA!! NO LIE YOU LOOK UGLY!! and on the last picture, of me and my sister asleep, aged about 1 or 2 and 5 or 6, she wrote: "THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR FAMILY, BOY!! WITH THERE CHILDREN GOTHS OR LESBIANS"

I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean, when she about goths. I think she was calling my sister a goth. Just she has pale skin (which she can't help) and dark hair doesn't mean she's a goth. I spoke to my teachers at school about it, and they "sorted it out". Or so they say. But the rumours haven't stopped, and if anything, they've gotten worse. My supposed best friend has now abandoned me because of these rumours, as have all my other friends, and now I'm all alone.

Sometimes I still cry about the comments she made, and the rumours I hear, and I have been diagnosed with clinical depression. No one at school knows, I wouldn't want them to, but when I'm feeling particularly bad, I have cut myself in the past. I still have the scars. What can I do to stop things like this happening? How can I stand up for my rights as an individual, whether I'm a lesbian or not? Somebody please help me with this, it's really hard to cope on my own...

I know how you feel about Romulus being spread about you. In situation like this it's obvious that almost all that can be done has been. Have you told your parents how much it hurts you? If not I suggest you do. They will be able to help and possibly sort things out completely, and if nothing works maybe it's time to switch schools and maybe deactivate your Facebook page if people are cyber bullying you. Talk to your parents and maybe you'll be better off somewhere different so you can have a fresh start. Hope this helps and goodluck :)

Thank you so much for your reply. My parents are starting to arrange for me to go to a different school. Thanks for the advice, it's nice to know some people understand.
