I bought a used car from a dealer in New York for $11450.00 only to find out twhen I got home that they advertised the car for sale at $9995.00 Are they reguired to tell me the car is actually on sale. Do I have any recourse . I haven't picked up the car yet but did leave a $2500.00 down payment. Will I lose the down payment if I cancel the deal. They ripped me off for almost 1500.00 dollars

Try to get the proof that it was on sale. A car salesman tried to pull this with me but he didn't know I already had the sale price from THEIR website. If you have proof you may be able to talk him down.

I'm confused - most dealerships are required to put a buyer's guide in the window which clearly lists the price that the vehicle is being sold for.

Honestly, I don't think you have any recourse here - especially if you already signed paperwork stating that you're going to pay the higher amount. And yes, if you cancel the deal you will most likely lose your downpayment.

I'm going to ask a friend from NY to pop into this thread and give her two cents; she's very well versed in law and also resides in the same state so that's two extra points for her.
