I live in a very old victorian home and I would like to install a chandalier. Good thing is that the fixture is already wired, bad news is that the switch controlling it is at the base of two flights of stairs. Re-wiring and installing a light switch is not an option, also changing out the light switch at the base of the stairs is not an option (landlord wants to keep all the old fixtures). What I was hoping to do is use a wireless wall switch meant for pull chain lighting... but the bowl pendant chandelier I want to install is not a pull chain. Is there any way to convert the bowl pendant I have to a pull switch mechanism so I may use a wireless wall switch mount?

There are 3-way switches available that use a remote wireless switch. You replace the existing switch with the wired module. You simply attach the remote switch on the wall where you want it. See Home Depot electric department.
