I had it snaked twice and even used Rootex! It drains eventually but will back up on the floor when I use the washing machine or the dishwasher. Help! I have a new septic tank but they didn't replace the drain pipe from the house.

Hi Sjmcpike...

If you want to be done with this then you will probably be best to have someone come out with a drain camera and see what is going on down the drain... could be roots or could be a collapsed pipe, right?

You can snake again and use a larger cutting head on the snake... go in and out multiple times, or get a drain company with a drain camera to take a video of the drain system.

Questions? Let me know, OK?

Yeah, I think you are right. The first time they snaked it, they pulled out a few roots. I guess I will bite the bullet and get someone out here. Thanks!

sjmcpike, an old plumber here used to recommend some chemical to kill roots, I'll try and fine what it was, or maybe Mark will know. Good luck

Copper Sulfate Root Killer. Foaming Copper Sulfate Root Killer. Copper Sulfate Packets, Drop and Flush. (http://www.coppersulfaterootkiller.com/home.html)

I believe this is the stuff if it's a root problem.

If the plumber pulls back more roots then a foaming root treatment would definitely be a first option here. You would do this root treatment as often as the can recommended it and with any luck you may be OK for awhile.

If you want to know exactly what is happening with the drain line, like how many root penetrations enter the drain line and where they are, or if there are any breaks, etc. ask them to send a camera down the drain and make sure they will leave you with a CD or DVD for future reference.

Thoughts..
