I remember Reading a book at primary school, one of the first 'big books' I ever read, with pictures, but can't remember what it was called! I can't remember the whole storyline, but the bits I do remember are:
1-starts in a small old town and everything was crooked, houses, streets, paths, trees, everything.
2-there's a character in it, a little boy I think.. who meets a, well, I'm not sure what it was, or how they met, but it was much like a man, brown I think, with a big round nose, and big round belly. I can't remember if it ever spoke, but a DISTINCT feature of him was he couldn't ben his knees or hips I don't thik, so when he sat on a chair, his legs stuck up! And when he laid down, they stuck up in the air!
I've always remembered this character, and know I loved the book very much, just wish I could find it!
Help? Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated!

Could it be 'Hanzel & Grettel'(?) sounds like it from the first part, but there is no old man who couldn't bend legs. There was a house made of sweets and a which, a well...
