Component or composite... there is a HUGE difference between the two.

I haven't seen a VCR with Component outputs.. only composite.

If they are composite white and red are left and right channel audio... the yellow is video. Just match the color coding, white to white... red to red... yellow to yellow or video.

Component however separates the red green and blue... and you can't plug composite into component and vice versa... the cables fit but it won't work.

Not all newer LCD or LED tv's have a composite input. Not a huge problem if you have cable TV and use an HDMI cable to your TV from the cable box... then you just use the TV input from the VCR with the screw in cable connection. That's how I had to hook up my VCR to my newest TV... (wife still records soap operas on it).
