Hi,
My contractors for my floor were definitely NOT finishing carpenters when it came to caulking with the newly installed door frames and baseboards. While some areas are fine... others are quite sloppy, chunky and overspread. I've had them back to fix but it's still not to my liking in some visible areas. I would like to trim some of the caulking, refill in others and finally repaint where touch ups are needed. Can anyone suggest a good way of doing this? I was thinking exacto knife and peeling the caulking off. And I'm no expert... just a bit fussy.. okay a lot fussy!!

Exacto knives work well but it is difficult to get a flush cut on a floor, holding it in your hand. They work well along door frames. Get a single blade scraper at a hardware store, they are <$2 at Lowe's now, and use a slow light pressure to remove caulk at the floor. Use blue masking tape to make a straight line along the floor or door, caulk, smooth and wait a couple of minutes and then remove the tape. Makes a perfect straight smooth caulk line and no mess.
