My almost 3 year old son was just diagnosed with Pneumonia yesterday via chest x-ray, he has had a fever on/off for almost a week now, Dr. has prescribed albuterol tid, pulmicort bid, omnicef, and tylenol/motrin alternating... we are very concerned and want him well asap, when do we get concerned and bring him to the hospital; they say we are doing everything right, I just can't stand for him to be so sick...

He is better off at home, if you keep him warm, propped up, and feed him warm brothy type soups and oatmeal etc. Dust free, humidifier, all the stuff you would do for colds and flue, even though it's not the same. You still want to keep the lungs working with a little movement and not lying flat on his back, and you still need liquids in him to break up congestion.
Fewer and fewer people are hospitalized for pneumonia. Don't forget that hospitals, no matter how clean, are where many bacteria start.
