I received this 9 times so far today - the cruelty in the world continues to amaze me.

Some dogs got shot, some had their throats slit? They "promise" this won't happen again - ?

Shocking. Up to now I thought the sickest people were the ones who race (and "cull") greyhounds and Michael Vicks and his dogfighting (with a lot of other people).

This group may have surpassed them.

Yes, I know, it was a tour company who was going bankrupt and couldn't afford to feed or care for their sled dogs any longer. It was in the Toronto Star yesterday. Horrendous, absolutely. The perpetrators will suffer greatly for this.

I should have not answered this post. We all know here what happens in the world with animal abuse, it is here all the time in different forms. I would suggest JKT's post be taken off for one reason only... anyone in the newsworld, who receives papers, e mails, etc. will know about this. It is done, and the Canadian government has to deal with it, same way the US government had to deal with Vick.

Please moderators, take this off here.

Questions were asked about why, so I don't see why it should be removed.
This is one subject that gets me truly depressed - puppy mills, dogs tied to car bumpers, all of it.
The man in some parts of the world who goes out to the yard where his dog is chained and starts hitting him on the head with a board to have for dinner.
Sigh

When I contribute a few dollars to people causes, I feel for the animals who can't speak. When I contribute to animals, I feel guilty about people. All I can say is that all my pets have been adopted by me and have been cared for and loved.

I also felt that Michael Vicks and his cruelty should no be posted and discussed here - so I understand your feelings.

However, if someone doesn't know they should know that this type of cruelty exists.

I don't know anyone who is in any way blaming all of Canada or, specifically, Canadians in general for this. There are cruel people everywhere.

I saw the slaughterhouse videos some years ago and became a vegetarian. Sickening.

(And I know you are an animal lover so, again, I know where you are coming from.)

Who can definitely answer why? Yes, I say many things that you have said. All my animals have been rescued. So I am saying it should be removed because all members here no what this is all about really. It is highly sensitive information and I don't think we all have to read it here, joypulv. Whatever you think. I offerred my own opinion.

JKT knows a lot too. I am surprised she posted this. I kept it to myself sparing some feelings here.

I read about it two days ago. I DID NOT post it here. Does that say a lot.

We all know what goes on with puppy mills, (alty Knows too, she has probably seen enough and maybe I don't want her to see the outcome) I have worked in abuse centres and seen some really bad cases come in, have had blood on my hands, and in my heart mostly because I SAW what had been done, and I didn't want anyone else too.

IMO

How could anyone blame all of Canada when the Vicks debacle happened. No I didn't think that way at all. I support you in your opinion on this, but just not for here. And I in no way took offence. its just that, you, I and alty know, shaz, what absolutely real cruelty is to dogs. We all have been there. I don't know what others, they have never said.

I just wanted to be sure you didn't think this was a slam at Canadians or Canada or anything else.

I suppose the two sides are to hope everyone sees it and forms an opinion or to make sure everybody sees it and forms an opinion.

Yes, I'm curious what the other dog people think.

I think more should be posted about the greyhounds that race and their living conditions - maybe people won't support greyhound racing. Same here.

I don't get this, there are humane ways to put down dogs, these people are just animals

Judy My rescue dog is doing very well . She is close to 60lb and is 21" tall.
I want to thank all the dog experts here who gave me advice when she was close to death with parvo.

She is perhaps the only creature in NY that is thoroughly enjoying the weather pattern we are currently in .

As we speak I have 150 pounds (yes, that's what she weighs, not a typo) SLEEPING ON THE BACK DECK! She is covered with snow, having a wonderful time. I've had German Shepherds my whole life but this one has a terribly thick coat and LOVES this weather.

Meanwhile I'm in the house wearing 3 layers of clothing.

Glad to hear your dog is doing so well. What breed (I don't remember)? Mine are a German Shepherd AKC and a mix German Shepherd and Gordon Setter, both rescues.

Bless you and all the other people who take in these dogs that so desperately need homes and don't buy - particularly designer dogs!

It is truly disappointing to see that there are people like this in the world. Is it surprising? Not at all.

One question. Why the push to remove the thread? Am I missing something? I was under the impression we could post about whatever we wanted to?

P.S. I have 2 Yorkies :)

I am speaking for Tickle (and I know she can speak for herself) but I believe she finds this upsetting and doesn't think it's appropriate - people will find it on their own.

Okay, Tick, how did I do?

Yes, I know paraclete. There is only one way that is acceptable, no way is acceptable as long as a dog can find a loving home and not have to go that route.

These lovely sled dogs, trained, bidable, but to be quite honest, sled dogs are not home dogs, they are outside dogs and in some cases, not acceptable to a home where there are children. They are one owner dogs who love the cold, love to run absolutely. If you can't provide trained sled dogs with the proper environment, they will never be happy, lanquish and just fade away.

Your response is why I didn't want this thread to continue.

Judy, you don't even have to ask. I know how you feel, too.

There is no push to remove the thread, IT. Did you read all I put in. I just didn't want a lot of people upset by the story. Yes, anyone, anywhere can post anything they want and will not be disputed.

Believe me when I say I read the thread. The above quotes sound like you're pushing for this thread to be removed. This may or maynot be upsetting but we cannot dictate what is talked about on here.

Please do not think I am attacking you. Just wondering if I was missing something.

What breed (I don't remember)?

Dna test shows German Shepard and Chow mix. I'd say she's mostly Shepard .
