I have a Sony Trinitron TV that is 13 years old, I have never had a problem with it but about 2 days ago there is a black frame on the sides that is bending inward . I can still watch TV but since the sides are bent inward it elongates the people, picture and it is very annoying.

Any ideas what could be wrong? It seems to be staying the same size and not getting worse, occasionally the bottom and top are included.

Possible cause could be that there are speakers next to the sides causing the picture to bend due to the magnets in the speakers or anything else that is magnetized.

The set is most likely just done, shoot it. 13 years is a good run. I will tell you this (have worked in electronics ) it is not even worth the cost to have someone look at it. On the bright side now you can get a new one.
