Hi,
When I connect my speaker to the system, it starts making continuous noise BUZZZZZ. While offline there isn't any problem with it. I tried to mute the system volume, tried muting all, including microphone but didn't work. Its really painful please help me anyone. I am using P4, 2.8, with Xp SP2

Sounds like you have an external interference that has nothing to do with the computer. Several things you can try:

- Make sure the speaker wires do not run near electrical cables
- Make sure that the speakers are as far away from the monitor or the computer as reasonable.
- Make sure you have proper grounding of your computer (i.e. 3 prong plug from the computer plugged into a wall receptacle that is properly grounded. Your computer may not be properly grounded (i.e. the computer's 3 prong plug is plugged into an extension cord that only has 2 prongs that go into the wall.

Sometimes there are other electrical items near the speakers or the speaker wires that induce this buzzing sound so look for those.


Give those a shot and see if that helps.

About third point, yes all three prongs are not connected but it is the same since I bought my system (2003) and the problem has just arrived. Please help me if you can.

And Yes... I forgot to mention, there are two speakers, one is main (with on/off and volume options) other is linked from the main via cable. Noise is coming only from the main one and sound of the songs etc is coming only from second one.

If the speakers are 4 years old, replace them. They sound like inexpensive standard issue speakers. You can probably replace them for about $20.

Have you unplugged the speakers recently.
Check where you have plugged into the sound card on your computer. Most systems use green to indicate speaker connection or spk imprinted below connector.
Usually larger connector for joystick then speaker, mic, line-in.
It is very easy to mix them up
