I am in a new home with a clogged tub. The tub is about 6 years old and is outfitted with a foot lock drain top. I've removed the top and now have a brass type screw with a spring all contained in a plastic/pvc type sleeve. I've tried to loosen the screw gently, buy it didn't budge. I'm hesitant to force the screw and break the mechanism.
Can someone with experience with these type drain stoppers please advise on course of action to remove this mechanism so I can clean the drain.
Thanks

Hi Thosrose...

Get a large flat screwdriver and force the brass bolt... it should come out without much coaxing... ;)

I'm confident that you won't break anything and even if you did (you won't) then the replacement parts are available at home depot, no problem, OK?

Go for it!

Thanks Mark, all went well. Needed a screwdriver big enough to fill the slot in the brass screw, the smaller ones kept slipping out of the slot of the soft metal.

I appreciate your assistance. Take care
