I have been having troubles with my 98 chevy malibu. It will start fine and then run but then after a little while ( about a half hour or so) it will shut itself off and the battery light and the oil light will blink red, what would I have to check and fix or top, to get the car to stop shutting itself off? What would be causeing the problem?

. Check for codes.

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil packs. Easy job. I recommend replacing these problematic components every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Check the charging system:

The alternator may be bad.

. Replace the coil packs, if the problem persists.
