The code enforcement officer in my town asks us to submit to standards above everyone else simply because we are well off. Our neighbor is constantly complaining to them about us (as they wanted to purchase this property but could not afford it)& we don't have any recourse... There is no home on the property yet as for years now we have been trying to comply with the towns code enforcement officers ever changing guidelines... who do we complain to that the code enforcement officer is harassing us?

Have you kept a papertrail of all communications that are ongoing? If so and you have a lawyer in your area that is a realestate lawyer and consult them about suing the city/county government.

I'ts been years and you still can't get a permit? What is so difficult? What have they asked you to do that they haven't asked others?

Are they asking you anything that is not within the code and the local laws ? Or are they just asking you to meet the laws.
