We all heard about the censorship of Mark Twain's classics "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" last week but this new one is so stupid I thought it was a joke at first. Some self-righteous, sanctimonious wimp in Newfoundland complained about the use of the word "faggot" in the classic 1985 Dire Straits song "Money For Nothing" so the song has now been banned from airplay in Canada. This is ridiculous. Any half-intelligent person can see that the song did not intend to offend gays, but was told from the point of view of a hard-working store owner who complains about working hard for low pay, while the "faggot" rock star with long hair, makeup and earring gets "money for nothing and chicks for free." We need to start asking ourselves why should 99 percent of people be deprived of the right to enjoy certain books, music, movies, or magazines because less than one percent pretend to be offended? In an election, the person with the most votes wins, yet a few wimps get to tell the majority of people what entertainment they can enjoy. We are going back in time to the 50s and it needs to stop.

I agree with you political correctness needs to go, but the gay lobby will never let go of it, they don't want any reference to them being different to the majority and let's face it they are different and it has extended into discussions on race, religion, nationality, politics. It won't be long before the lynch mobs appear

... so the song has now been banned from airplay in Canada. Just to add a correction, the song has not been banned outright, it can play with a 'radio edit' version, just like many rap songs out there.
