Hi, I've married to an illegal immigrant for 13 years (he overstayed his visa) now we want to file papers for him to become legal, what problems should we expect to face? We do have 1 child. None of our accounts, lease contain his name due to his status.

Well, There could be many consequences, But if you are financially prepared yourselves everything will be fine by will of God Almighty. Don't compromise in hiring lawyer. Good Luck.

Why have you not addressed this issue in the past decade? Was there, or is there a reason that you have all marital assets in your name, and thought enough to hide all of this, but you couldn't see an immigration lawyer?

The only thing you can do is see an immigration lawyer, and get knowledgeable, sound information on how to proceed, especially because the two of you decided to have a child together.

Regardless of how long he's remained an illegal immigrant, he is still an illegal immigrant.
