Hi,

I'm a mixologist that has been wondering about the question of preserving juices for longer periods. We use alcohol to fortify and preserve certain concoctions that we mix up such as sugar/water solutions and other sweetened solutions we use for cocktails. Adding 2-4% alcohol to these mixes is said to add weeks or months to the shelf life. I was wondering if the same would be true for natural juices such as orange juice and cranberry juice. If a few splashes of vodka were added, would that add anything to the shelf life?

Thanks

I can't say for sure, but I do know that when I make up a batch of Margaritas with O.J. lemon and lime along with the tequila and cointreau it lasts for months in the fridge.:)
