My husband of 25-1/2 years is disabled (uses prosthetic device for loss of right foot--falsly claims he is illiterate, however, he can read and comprehend what he is reading and is capable of writing as I have proof of letters he has written to me) and has not worked in years. I have been the breadwinner while he has been the primary caregiver of the children. There has been much domestic violence in the past--in 2000 I filed a protection order but took him back several months later because I felt the kids needed a father. Last month, my 15 year old daughter disclosed that he sexually assaulted her at age 5 (around the time I took him back) and then tried something at age 12. I kicked him out. He is living in a homeless shelter because our two older boys have children and CPS says he cannot stay with them. We are still awaiting an interview with the WA State prosecuting attorney to see if they can even charge him because of how long it has been and lack of evidence. I plan to file for a divorce; will I have to pay alimony?

Possibly. Although you could always offer to decline child support if he declines alimony.

Personally, alimony would be the last of my worries at this point. I'd just want to get away from this man and get my children away from him, and worry about the monetary issues down the road.

If CPS is saying he can't stay with his grandchildren, I'd push for sole custody and supervised visitation of your daughter.
