View Full Version : Feel invisible

Christmas is so bittersweet for me! I really think about gifts that I choose for others and so when I give gifts it gives me great anticipation of their delight upon receiving the gift. However, it feels like I have to ask if they even got the gift! The response is
"oh yes....thanks , I like it" I went to my nephews wedding this summer (which I couldn't really afford) hoping to get closer to him. Now I hear through his Mom that he is expecting, that he called my parents but he can't call the aunt, not even an email! Why do I feel so invisible when it comes to just giving me back a thank you!

Manners are learned from a early age and if they don't see their parents, (namely moms) writing thank yous, then they won't know to do it.

You aren't invisible... I'm sure these same people would know exactly who you are if you failed to send a gift. Yes it is rude not to thank a person for a gift. But you have to accept that some people will be thoughtful and some will not. Give from your heart anyway.

Thank you Devorameira! I did have the joy of giving from my heart so I totally agree with you. I think next year, God willing, I'm going to re-think how I give and what I give or if I give. In fact, I think I will just give to charity instead.
