About 10 months ago we had a leaky shower pan and my husband fixed it. Now whenever we run the shower we get a mold smell. This just started about a month or two ago. I have put the bacterial drain cleaner down the drain several times to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi Cathy...
Some questions for you, OK?
How did your husband fix a leak in a shower pan?
What kind of shower pan, plastic/acrylic pan, vinyl membrane pan, or a copper pan?
Tile on walls or shower enclosure?
Answer these questions and we can discuss options available next.

Hi Mark, Its an inexpensive 1 piece fiberglass enclosure and we live in a mobile home. No tile. I can't get under the house to see but he said it was leaking so he siliconed it and it doesn't leak anymore. I don't have a clue as to why it was leaking in the first place nor does he but in the beginning he went under the house for something and said he found water.Thats when this all began. Don't know if this helps but he said he can see through the pan itself? My husband is not experienced in home repairs but he tries. Thanks for your help here.

Cathy...
Take the strainer cover off the shower drain and look inside... see if it's real messy. If it is, take a coat hanger and clean everything out real well and then pour a 50% bleach solution down the drain letting it sit overnight. The next morning, pour some really hot water down the drain and flush the drain clean. Install the strainer in place again and see if things improve. Hopefully, that will be all that is needed... ;)
Let me know how you make out, OK?
Mark
