A pilot of a small plane approaching an ooil spill at an altitude of 10000 ft. he found that the near edge of the oil spill had an angle of depression of 58 degrees while the far edge of the spill had an angle of depression of 44 degrees. What is the width of the spill?

Make a diagram and use the law of tangents.

i.e the distance to the far end would be 10000cot(44)

Find the other and subtract them to find the width of the spill.
