I'm from immigrant parents and I never had that. I went to college but I've had to pay it after graduating and having gone to school with loans. I still have lots more to pay but I'm paying myself. Am I not the one that went to college? Why would my parents need to pay for my own education. And it isn't like college kids go to college as kids.. They go as adults.

Same here, paid for my own education. Worked during high school when kids were partying and bought a late model car, worked during uni and paid tuition, currently finishing up uni and have no loans!

When our son went to college, he was still our dependent. We paid what we were told to pay, taking out loans and paying them off. Our son also took out loans that he is still paying off.

What was the total of books and tuition and R&B for four years?

Because we want our children to have the best opportunity for a life that they can.
Not all parents pay for their children's education. Some pay part or nothing. It really depends on what they can afford.
