I have a 3 handle moen shower control installed on tile wall. Just bought my first house last week so no idea how old unit is. The middle knob (shower diverter if I researched correctly) will not turn. I have tried taking off handle and using WD40 as suggestd on one website and still no luck. I found another website that said but new diverter at hardware store. I was told at Lowe's and Home Depot that if more than 5-6 years probably no longer have part. I believe the bathroom was added on house in 1997 or 2002 so probably that old. Will a plumber have to remove my tile wall to replace faucet? If so does anyone know a rough ballpark of what something like that might costs?

If the shower valve works OK with the exception of a stick stem then, no matter what the big box guys say Moen has the parts and we have the knowledge and we're about to save you big buck and a lot of hassle. This is your faucet,(see image) Correct? If so call Moen at Call: 1-800-BUY-MOEN (1-800-289-6636)
8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday
8:00 am to 6:30 pm on Saturdays EST
Closed on Sundays and all nationally observed holidays.
To contact Moen Canada call: 905-829-3400
And ask them to send you a #94543 Diverter Kit. Since Moen guarantees its products for life there should be no charge.
Once you get the part click on back and we'll walk you through replacing it.
Now, Isn't that better then spending the $ to tear up your tile for a new valve? And your thoughts. Tom

Wow thank you that is my shower. I will call Moen right away. What a great response

Thank you again Tom. Called Moen and my new part is on the way. Was only $30 with shipping and I'll have it in 2 days. You're a life saver. I'd definitely love the walk through directions you mentioned.

Thanks I'll call back toay and check. She told me the part and standard shipping was $30.50 and I could pay $2 for extra shipping. I'll see how much actual part was.

Checked & free replacement is original purchaser only. When ordered they asked date purchase and # on box. I responded did not have as I just purchased home. Therefore I pay $20.40 part, sales atx and regular shipping = $30.50 just FYI for future

Hello Queen,

I believe you asked Moen to expedite the shipping that is why will cost you $30, normal shipping would have cost you $0.0, good luck.

I agree, Moen warranties for life so you must have asked for extra shipping. Buy it for looks, buy it for life

Good news and bad. Handnyman couldn't get "stem" out so I called a licensed plumber. Yesterday they removed part but came out in pieces and cannot get to area needed to repair without going through back of wall. Also need to locate another 3 handle faucet to fit. As back wall is exterior and they will need to remove siding, cut through concerete wall, fix and repair wall estimate $418 including new shower/faucet unit. Owner of company called back today and suggested easier less expensive fix since was my private bath. They installed a new spout and an alternate diverter so that the middle handle of the faucet is still on wall but it does not divert the shower. For the shower I pull the little tab on spout as in main bathroom. Total repair with 2 trips was $120 and no cutting into the exterior wall of my house. Thanks for all the advise. Merry Christmas
