Hello, I work for the fire department and we are trying to put together a not for profit olympic team. We have two main purposes
1. to beable to participate in the police & fire olympics, to encourage our members to stay healthy and fit since heart attacks are the #1 killer of firefighters and cause the job is physically demanding.
2. our olympic team wants to be able to give back to the kids/ community through possibly doing some sort of special olympics or helping out a charitable organization.
I have read a little on the IRS websight but understand very little of it. We would be not for profit. We would try to solicit business to sponsor us and donate towards our charitable organization.
Any advice besides consult an attorney?
