In Aug,2010 the non custodial parent, who was living in PA, had a childsupport enforcement hearing in Mercer Co, NJ. At time Mercer Co informed him that he was to still pay cs but that NJ had no jurisdiction on the order because neither parent was residing in NJ. I live in VA now. A few days later he goes to another municipal court in NJ and requested a downward modification and a credit for time he spends with our child in the summer. He gave a NJ address. Between the court date in Mercer Co which I was never informed of, I filed to have the case transferred to VA. We have a court date scheduled in NJ next week so I called the clerk's office to find out if I had to be in court and was told as far as they yes. I called the CS enforcement office in VA they told me to call NJ back and let them know the case was transferred to VA. After speaking to several people it now my understanding that because he filed in different counties and neither one really knows what's going on. Because he was told twice by Mercer Co that their was no jurisdiction in NJ but he went to another court. I don't believe he lives in NJ for various reasons and the address he provided is a family member's so it's not like he has a place in his name which he is paying bills. I'm trying to find out what I have to do to not have to keep running to court every time he doesn't get his way or wants to assert his authority. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is far too much "He said....he thought...they said...nobody knows..." going on here.
Has the case actually been transferred to Virginia, or have you simply filed for the venue change and are waiting for the approval?

VIrginia saids they aren't doing anything until NJ transfers the case. I spoke to someone in the call center for NJ cs and they said that as long as one parent is reporting that they live in NJ, NJ will not transfer the case.

Mercer ruled that they had no jurisdiction on the case so he went to Burlington Co NJ and filed with an NJ address. I spoke to Burlington Co clerk she told me to contact the case manager in Mercer Co and see what she saids.
