Yup! I'm getting married!!
I just wanted to ask if any of you had any ideas to make a ceremony special. I love all of you and would love to hear your suggestsions.
Oh yes, the date? December 28! This year! :) Why? Well, because when it's right, it's right! The condo my fiancée (wow. Fiancee) is renting is in foreclosure and the owner called him and told him that he has to be out by the end of the year. We talked and asked families and what did they say? "Oh, just get married, guys!" So we are!
So, hit me... any wedding ideas!?

That's a short time line. I'm stressed for you.
Are you getting married in a church and having a reception, or justice of the peace party at a later date?
The one thing that I find the most important is a good photographer and videographer. When all is said and done all you'll have left are the pictures, the video and the memories. You want to get the best that you can afford in that area.
If you haven't already, go dress shopping asap. Most dress shops don't have stock that they sell, you have to order the dress and it can take up to six months to get the finished product back. There are always sample sales which means you buy the store sample. That doesn't usually include alterations but because the dress is a sample you can usually get a gorgeous gown for half the price you'd pay if you ordered it.
Wow, so many things.
What kind of ceremony are you having? Is it formal? Informal? Are you two writing your own vows? Flowers, DJ, all depending on what you're doing.
Chicky, if you need any help at all, let me know. I can do a lot form my computer and anything you need, just say the word and you've got it.

Too bad you are not here in Atlanta, I would love to do your weddings, ( on a side note, they can not merely call him up to move out,) if he has a lease, they can't make him move at all, if on month to month verbal, they still have to give a written 30 day notice.

Congrats! I'm pretty stressed for you too!
One fun reception idea is to place disposable cameras on all the tables. Let your guests take random pics. Those are always so fun to look back on!

Well, I do have the dress, Alty! I walked in, tried one on, nope, the second? All it needs is a bustle! It's perfect! I love it! :)
Since I got my dress, my matron of honor's style was selected. She went in with me that afternoon and voilà! Got it! Her's needs a few alterations, but it's perfect, too!
We decided upon my church and since it's going to be decorated for Christmas, no decorations necessary! We'll use the hall attached to the church for the reception and people have given me extra twinkle trees. Again, voilà! My favors, I'm thinking, will be ornaments, but I'm still kind of lost about what to do.
Umm... cake, done. Here's the link: http://www.weddingandcakes.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/red-black-and-white-wedding-cakes.jpg
Food, still working on that, but am talking with a caterer friend. We're having a desert reception because the ceremony is at 7pm.
Good idea on the cameras! I'm going to do that...
I guess I'm looking for special touches... little things that make the day pretty.
It's formal/semi-formal. Rob will wear his three-piece pin stripe suit and my dress is rather Grace Kelly-ish. Colors are black, red, and white.

Little tea candles on the tables, and a singer in the church...
Red carpet in the entrance to the reception?
White chair covers with red bows?
Mulled wine and mince pies for the guests as they arrive?

OOO! Red carpet entrance! I like that! Will do that.
Love the tea light idea, too! A friend of mine that got married last year has a plethora of tea lights that she has given me... didn't really know what to do with them! Thanks, Red!
MMmmm mulled cider... I'm liking that idea. Will have to do it.
Boy, you just really hit the jackpot! Thanks! :)

Of course you have to have coffee hour. ;)
One of our friends did something very interesting at her wedding. The bride was kidnapped, yes, kidnapped. In order to get her back the groom had to walk around the room asking for ransom money. Here was the twist. If the people offering money wanted something, the groom had to oblige. Simple things like a dance, or a song, or getting them a piece of cake. They collected over $2000 and while the bride was being held hostage she changed into her party clothes, cleaned up a bit, and relaxed. It was a blast.

OH WOW! I like that idea! That's so much fun! I"ll have to share that with Rob and my matron of honor. She's really on the ball.
She's already scheduled two bridal showers for me! One for "church ladies" and one for the "fun stuff" :D ;)

It was beautiful, you all! Absolutely perfect! Everything came together beautifully - I'll have to put some pictures up on here when we get our professional ones back.
The favors were AWESOME! People are still talking about them! I went to IKEA and bought some black and white coffee mugs, tied our logo with a bow around the handles, and put two huge apothecary jars full of hot chocolate and coffee beans on our candy bar. Guests filled the little boxes with either hot chocolate or coffee for a "cup on us" to take home! It was great! :)
