We are new to Florida and have never experienced water via well. We are renting our home which had been foreclosed before the current owner bought it and fixed it up for rent. It sat dormant for about a year. We have had a few problems since we moved in with our septic tank etc. We turned on the automatic sprinklers about a month ago due to unseasonably warm weather and at the suggestion of our landlord. Now a sprinkler has gushed water overnight and left our well empty (I assume) as we can get no water into the house anywhere. How long should I expect it to take for our well to refill?

Shut the pump of so it doesn't run dry. What has happened is that you've drawn the water table down bbelow the well point. Your well is replenishing as we speak. Just give it some time. Do you have any idea how deep the well is?
As more and more people draw on the Florida Aquifer the water table falls, perhaps it's time your landlord extends the well point down some more. Good luck and welcome to Florida. Tom
