I'm wondering how or what are the procedures to immigrate to Switzerland and if I'll be able to study if I move move there? Currently I'm living in Canada. However my status won't allow me to take my studies beyond High School. Unless I could afford it as a International Student. And I can't afford to pay such a high rate. Because I also have to support myself as well. I was wondering if there is any type of visa or permit that will allow me to do that. Or what do I have to do to move there and study or work or both and if what are the chances of staying there. I'm 21 years old and originally Salvadorian. So can anyone give me some advice?

Hi there,

To be eligible to live and work in Switzerland permanently you will have to get a Swiss Permit C (permanent resident status in Switzerland).
There is an agreement between Canada and Switzerland according to which canadian citizens may be eligible for for Permit C after 5 years of continuous living there as a worker under Permit B. Most of other immigrants have to wait 10 years in mentioned above status to get Permit C.
So, if you are a canadian citizen - get employment or go to school there then find there job, stay with this work for 5 years and then as a B permit holder apply for Permit C.
Good luck!
