Hi Im 17 (getting bracxes off soon I think) and for about a month now I realized my gum on bottom teeth clossest to the left lower canine have started receding. There's a little gap in there now. I think itds from brushing too hard I don't know. I got a softer toothbrush from orthodontist so I've been using that.

Anyway I would like to know will it ever grow back? I've searched on internet some say it will some say it won't. Its only been a month or two since its occurred so do you have any ideas for answers? Thank you

Go to your dentist and ask.

But my feeling is that you are 17 and have amazing powers of recovery. Stop whatever is causing the problem, and your body should fix itself. I had a lot of major dental work done in the last year, and I'm amazed at how fast my gums healed up after surgery. I'm sure yours should be even faster.

Sometimes recession can occur when teeth are moved. Make sure you are using a soft toothbrush and that you don't scrub back and forth when brushing.
