I want to break my lease and get out of my current apartment. I have read that laws are different in some states but I can't find anything specific for Louisiana. I feel my apartment is unhealthy. My sink water and any food particles from dishes comes back up in my bathtub. I have contacted my landlord by letter in the mail and there have been no attempts to fix the issue. There are multiple other issues as well such as cockroaches, no heat, all the stove burners don't work, my car and my neighbors car has been broken into, but none as gross and bothersome as my plumbing problem. Can I legally break my lease and get back my deposit?
