Description: Our church is located inside residential area. The area is max 20mph zone. I parked car along the fence of church. The other side is house. The road between church and the house is enough for two cars to pass by. There is no center line which divides direction. After church, I was talking with church member and I saw an elderly woman was backing her car from driveway of garage. After then, she hit my car and made dent (4inch by 4 inch size) just below right-side headlamp and above it. Her car got just scratch on rear left side. Police came and I got case number. Her car was company car and both of us had insurance. That was 100% her faults. I have $1000 collision coverage. I have seen it and my church member was also there. My wife also heard the hitting sound. Nobody was inside at the moment. On the spot, police said the parking direction of my car is contrary to the traffic direction so, he gave me $25 ticket. This is the story.

Question:
1. Do I need to inform insurance?
2. How can I win this?
3. Is the parking direction against to my winning?

1. you don't have to, but she is likely to file a claim with her insurance and they will contact your carrier.
2. depends on the facts of the case.
3. If you got a ticket and the offense contributed to the accident, then it will hurt your case.

I don't fully agree that the ticket will be held aginist you. You may have been parked pointing th wrong direction, still would have gotten hit if the car was turned around. Noboby in your car and it was parked, the other guy was doing the moving and the hitting. Did you both exchange insurance info, if so call the other parties insurance and file the claim but inform your companyn too.
