The other day my friend and I got caught shoplifting for about 15 bucks. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time I guess.as we where leacing the store the security lade insisted us to empty our bags and follow her upstairs. We complied , the cops where called but superstore and the police decided not to charge us althou we had to do community service. They said there isn't going to be a criminal record on us but there will be a reocrd of us shoplifitng.

Just wanted to know if this will affect me for emplyment etc. and my parents are applying for PR and how bad will this affect thathat as well

Do your community service, all of it, like they want and you won't have to worry about a record. No one gets a criminal record for $15. but don't go believing you get off this easy next time, calgary. A criminal record will ruin you for life. Read some posts here of people with felonies looking for jobs, can't even get a job driving a truck.

If you did not go to court, there is no record, sounds more like an informal program they do locally for youth offenders
