View Full Version : I'm honestly worried at this point in time.

My period was due over a week ago, and about four days ago I noticed a brown "mess." Clearly, it was dry blood - and it wasn't just "spotting." I have a job where I can't take time to check, so I put a tampon - two for a sixteen hour period, and what came out wouldn't have used half of one. Than nothing, except for some brown when I wiped after peeing.

Last night before leaving for work, my stomach started feeling incredibly weird, and when I went pee I noticed a lot of bright red blood. Twelve hours later, I've had incredibly heavy bleeding - more heavy than ever. It's starting to slow greatly, but I have a terrible pain in my lower back which is very uncommon. I am also not a heavy bleeder during periods, and this was incredibly heavy. I used quite a few tampons in eight hours, over four and it still was not enough to keep it in check.

Should I be worried or am I having an awkward period? I have unprotected sex on a regular basis, and have been trying to conceive. (Of course, or I would have chalked this up to a weird period already, right?)

I will say that my nipples are incredibly sensitive and I have noticed darkening on only one of my nipples.
I was a smoker, and I want to make sure I'm not having an ectopic pregnancy.

Can anyone give me advice?
Should I get a test?
Should I go to the hospital?

Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks again,
Tiffany.

It may have been an off period or it may have been an early miscarriage. Since you have been trying to conceive, and some women do have some bleeding in early pregnancy, I would check with your doctor.
