Something small but I thought I want to ask people opinion out there. My boyfriend and I don't live in the same country, we have been doing this long distance for months. We visit each other and last time he came and visit me he asked me what I want from where he lives. SOmething simple I said chocolate, when get gets here I asked him how much do I owe him and yeah.. he said how much the choc was and I paid for it... I know its nothing but.. seriously.. is that's normal??

...when get gets here i asked him how much do i owe him ...If you weren't planning on paying for it then don't ask to pay for it. There's being polite then there's sending mixed signals. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Sounds like some misunderstanding. Did he intend it as a gift? Then he should have refused your money. Did you expect it as a gift? Then you should not have offered. Had he straight out asked for the cash then maybe you could have been taken by surprise. I suggest next time if he asks what you may like tell him nothing and thank you. This way if he brings something along he truly means it as a gift.

Read carefully:
It depends on who was thinking what at the time he asked you what you wanted.

Yeah, it was probably my mistake too. Was trying to be polite and it wasn't about the money though, I was just surprised when he took the money off me. Anyway, thank you :)

The gesture was nice... but if I was him I would have refused to accept the money. Casual friends is one thing... if you have something deeper then accepting payment for a small gift would not be appropriate. Not how I was raised anyway.

I agree with smoothy. If he is this cheap now, who knows how he will be later on down the road.
