Well we are engaged but his ship date is in June of next year and I might see him in may before he leaves but then I might not see him until maybe 2012 and we have set our wedding date in may. So should we go to court and get married or wait until our wedding date to get legally married. Any advice is good just need a second and third opion. Thanks

Even if you go to the court house and get married it is a legal wedding also. I depends on you and your fiance".

If he hasn't deployed before, I would wait until after a deployment so you both see how it will effect your relationship. Deployments are a true test of trust, respect, maturity, and fidelity. Plus, there's a readjustment when they get back because during that time, both parties have experienced different things and you want to make sure that you are able to deal with that. Marrying for an increase in pay, benefits, housing, etc. is not a valid reason to rush into anything. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I still believe marriage should be a life-long commitment to each other. If you're going to be together for the rest of your lives, why not just use the deployment time to plan everything and make it a wedding out of love rather than a race against the date?
