I spent 40 min. yesterday cutting vertical drain with a sawsall to clean out pit I'm working in. I'm in a four foot hole under a slab and want to change direction of drain pipe for remodeling from a horizontal connection to vertical.
My last task is to remove 90 degree cast elbow that connects to a vertical pipe that continues to run another foot or two.
Don't want to try and use sawsall again, but only have one crack at this.
What is the safest way to get elbow, lead and oakam out?

Why remove it at all? If the bottom is open you can stick a 2 X 4 in there fro leverage and tug on the elbo to loosen the lead joint and turn that elbo any direction you wish. Just Recaulk the lead and oakum joint . **OR**
You can take a hammer and break the hub of the elbo, remove the lead ring and simply pull the elbo off. You may then convert to PVC if you wish. Good luck, Tom
