Hello:
What?? No gloating?? Go ahead - gloat. You got 24 hours... Ok, I know why you're not gloating - because the right wing didn't get hired. The left just got fired... And, how about that Sharron Angle? I guess she can use her Second Amendment remedies, now... She didn't get her way...
Speaker Orange looked like Glenn Beck when he cried... I actually LIKED it, though. He's human, and I'm going to give him a break for two years...
And, what about that crazy California?? The zillions spent by Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorino didn't matter. They elected Governor Moonbeam, but they defeated the legalization of pot... What's up with that?
So, tell me what all this means...

Sore loser... don't tell me you like most Democrats never saw this coming. You didn't actually believe most people actually Liked or wanted what Obama and the Dems were trying to stuff down our throats?
What this means is simply... the people duped by the Con Artists at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue are wise to the game this election and it shifted back to sanity rather than Socialism the left wants.
Simple as that.

I was up late and have not had a chance to digest all that happened.
The House went as I expected . It would've been nice to pick off West Va. Because I think Reid is going to do some crazy things in the lame duck session and an extra Republican block would've been helpful. If there is a silver lining in his win it's that Schumer won't be majority leader .
The Tea party had some great success and some set backs. What this tells me is that they haven't learned how to manage a national campaign yet and will continue to need the Republican machine. The Republicans in turn need the Tea party . It is only their enthusiasm that made the results yesterday possible.
Angle is a case in point. She did not have the Reid 'get out the vote' machine.
Rubio... he is Tea Party ,but also a protégé of Jeb Bush. He has a great future. The Clintoon visit to Fla to throw Meek under the bus proved the biggest mistake of the cycle. The African-Americans did not show up and many districts the Dems could've won in the State went Red . With the Governor-elect being Republican ;and this being a redistricting year , the President may have thrown a huge monkey wrench in his reelection plans (if he has any).
To me the Governor results is the under reported story . I for one wish NY went Republican because I live in possibly the most rediculously gerrymandered district in the nation.
The strategery was always a 2 election cycle plan. It would've been extremely difficult to take the Senate because most of the seats in contention were Republican hold . The 2012 cycle has many more Dem seats up for grabs.
California... what can I say ? Talk about voting against their own best interest! Brown and Boxer are a joke.
I note that in AZ there was a Governor contest... yes there really was. The national media was very silent on that because they knew Brewer would romp and the main reason she did was because she defends the right of the state to make and enforce laws that defends the state.
Re the speaker... we now have a person of color in both the Presidency and the Speaker of the House positions. He's got to stay out of the tanning booths... it must be bombarding him with estrogen.

Re the speaker ....... we now have a person of color in both the Presidency and the Speaker of the House positions. Hello tom:
That is POSITIVELY funny. I didn't know you had it in you. Must be the giddiness..
I think your assessment is pretty accurate. However, given that Angle's election wouldn't have given the senate to the Republicans, I think Reid should have lost for two reasons: in the first place, it would be great FUN to have Sharron Angle around for the next six years. In the second place, if I believe one of the Democrats MAJOR problems was communication, and I DO, then Shumer would be an ideal leader. No matter what you think of him, he can articulate the message without making me fall asleep.

I'm pleased but I'm not going to gloat. And speaking of color, I think it's great that a fine Hispanic man in Marco Rubio defeated another overly tanned guy for the Senate, along with David Rivera and Allen West (http://theothermccain.com/2010/11/02/video-allen-west-victory-speech/) in the House from Florida.

Hmm. Our JOBS are going to China... This election was about JOBS. China's trade policy encourages the importation of MORE of our JOBS. Shumer is doing something about the loss of our JOBS. He's trying to keep some of our JOBS here by confronting the Chinese.
But, you'd rather give a tax break to the rich, as though you think that'll help us keep the jobs that are left... Who, by the way, do you think are the ones who're shipping our JOBS off to China?? They're the rich, who you want to give a tax break to and add it to the deficit so my grandchildren have to pay for it... Dude.

Ex. My only concern is that trade wars devolve rapidly into shooting wars. Other than that I have no problem taking aim at China .They have been blocking sale of rare earth minerals to us and to Japan. Given the national security implications ,that can't go unanswered . But Admiral Sestak's charge against Toomey was a cheap baseless attack.

If they tried to make a TV in California they would have to charge $10,000 for each one after all the Environmental charges... taxes... free benefits to non-workers etc.
No wonder the work is going overseas. Who is going to pay to go to college to work for minimum wage building TV's, DVRs, Radios etc...
And even at minimum wage you would have to pay a LOT more to buy something... just for them to break even.
I know a lot about this... I have an Electronics Engineering Degree and have worked for two manufacturers in the past here on the East Coast that I quit over wages.
And that has nothing to do with someone Rich... hogging the money.
How about Hollywood cutting the wages of actors... nobody actually needs to make Millions pretending to be somebody else...

Damn... I haven't seen prices for the theater like that in 20 years. Yeah the relatively unknown groups will be affordible... I was meaning the headliner groups. When I was in College they were actually affordible... and that's even factoring in the inflation adjusted prices.
California was used as an example since its California and the liberals that cry the loudest about the jobs going overseas... yeah the right does as well, but unlike them we don't believe in massive entitlement programs for people that never earned anything of the sort like California has.
But much the same holds true in the greater DC metro region where I have lived and worked in Both MD and DC for nearly 30 years except the years I spent overseas. Never lived or worked in NJ so can't comment there but I do know NJ has stupid high taxes from people I know who lived there.

The talk today seems to be on Obama's conciliatory tone yesterday... I say it was a head fake. The man has made a political career out of saying one thing and doing the opposite.
In his victory speech the partisan divide was over, a few weeks ago Republicans could "come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back." He wanted them "just to get out of the way" and "don't do a lot of talking." "Enemies" (American voters) had to be "punished." Transparency? Not going to happen.
Remember back when Scott Brown was elected? He warned Democrats not to "jam" Obamacare through and what did he do? He doubled down and jammed it through. So for the last 24 hours the media has discussed "compromise" and told us his signature energy goal was dead, cap and trade.
But did anyone catch what he actually said? “There is more than one way to skin a cat.”

In another development, Media Matters - the George Soros funded group whose sole mission is attacking Fox News - has determined what went wrong for Democrats.
It wasn't anti-incumbent fever.
It wasn't a national temper-tantrum (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=news&cd=1&ved=0CDEQqQIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dallasnews.com%2Fsharedconten t%2Fdws%2Fdn%2Fopinion%2Fviewpoints%2Fstories%2FDN-pitts_03edi.State.Edition1.27e5f80.html&rct=j&q=national%20temper-tantrum&ei=HiTTTNnoA4WclgfXsNGtDg&usg=AFQjCNHUJs9pR5u7qGSacTdxeKITeXO4tQ&cad=rja).
It wasn't ignorance, denial, willful stupidity, and blind rage (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=news&cd=5&ved=0CDYQqQIwBA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fthemoderatevoice.com%2F91268%2Fli fe-goes-on%2F&rct=j&q=blind%20rage&ei=pyXTTKXqLsKqlAfP0vniDQ&usg=AFQjCNGhqlpRDs9AeT0YF4gZexCJ-ro8mA&cad=rja).
It wasn't Obama not getting his message out.
It wasn't voter racism.
It wasn't "secret money."
No, none of that... Fox News won the election for Republicans (http://mediamatters.org/research/201011020054).
During the 2010 election cycle, Fox News, its employees, and its parent company engaged in an unprecedented campaign in support of the Republican Party. The network served as the communications and fundraising wing of the GOP while fervently promoting -- and sometimes creating -- the party's candidates.
Part of their shocking discovery was that "Fox News candidates "speak through Fox News."
Fox News candidates "speak through Fox News"at least 269 times in 2010. Media Matters for America searched the Nexis database through September 18 for network and cable television appearances in 2010 by five potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates who currently have relationships with Fox News. The five potential candidates -- John Bolton, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, and Rick Santorum -- have appeared 269 times on Fox News and a total of six times on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, and CBS combined.
Yes, John Bolton (I didn't know he was in the running) has weekly scheduled appearances on Fox News as an analyst. Newt Gingrich (http://www.foxnews.com/bios/talent/newt-gingrich/) has been a paid contributor for years. I'm sure you heard Sarah Palin had a short-lived show and Huckabee... has had his own weekly show on Fox News for over 2 years. Let's see, 52 weeks a year, a few preemptions and re-runs, plus regular contributions as a paid employee and appearances to promote his show... that's what, 150 or so appearances right there?
Media Matters is shocked that Fox employees appear on their network? I'd like for them to do a Lexis-Nexis search on the number of Democrat appearances on Fox during that same span and report back.
Oh yeah, Alan Grayson appeared on MSNBC 62 times (http://johnnydollar.us/files/101027grayson.php)... but when you only have 79 viewers it really doesn't matter.

Kennedy. What was done to her, she says, "was almost chicken feed" by comparison. "Now they didn't have him," she adds. "To some extent they did this with Mrs. Clinton for a while." And then Pelosi performs the political math. "Now you take a woman and a progressive and you put it together. . ."
Yeah that's it, the party that had the first black female secretary of state, ran a woman for VP in 2008 and just elected a female Hispanic governor in New Mexico is sexist. Just like the Tea Party, whose most prominent candidate is a Latino, is racist.
Here's a clue that's been repeated ad nauseum all along, we don't give a hoot that you're a woman... it's the progressive ideology I'm against. We're not the ones calling women whores for not walking in lockstep with the left.

Hello again,
The right is gloating. They say the election is a repudiation of the Democrats positions and they need to act more like Republicans in order to win... They couldn't be wronger...
If there was a repudiation, it was a repudiation by the LEFT because Obama didn't act LIBERAL enough. IF the same number of voters, who supported Obama the first time around, voted, the right would have lost, just like they did in '08.
The people know the righty's are the ones who caused the problem in the first place. They only got elected by default...

The thinking people know the democrats have had the Purse strings for the last 4 years and wrecked the debt... they had complete control the last 2 years and wrecked the economy.
Sounds like you, much like Obama... still can't see the forest for the trees.
If MOST people felt like you did why did so many vote Republican? Besides the fact that MOST Americans aren't liberals.

Indeed.. I encourage them to continue thinking that . They are making a great move in that direction by allowing Madame Mimi to retain her Congressional leadership despite the biggest loss by the Dems in the last century.
Now there is an interesting civil war in the leadersip ranks with the battle for whip between Steny Hoyer and James Clyburn . No doubt the elites in the Dems will prefer to place Hoyer and ask Clyburn to move to the back of the bus.
I am encouraged that the Black Congressional caucus have made the gesture of inviting new Congressional Republican Reps Tim Scott of South Carolina and Allen West of Florida to join the caucus.
The black caucus includes a handful of moderates but is mostly made up of liberals serving in safe Democratic districts. The addition of Republicans would likely shake up its weekly meetings and require its leaders to navigate around them to discuss strategy.
West, a former Army officer, said in an interview he's eager to steer the group away from "failing liberal social welfare policies that have caused the demise of the black community."
Black caucus says it will allow Republicans | Top AP Washington Stories | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/washington/7286905.html)
Fox is also reporting that defeated Dems penned a letter to Pelosi asking her to step down. As you know... it was the Blue Dogs in swing districts that took the brunt of the electorate outrage for going along with the Pelosi -Obama radical Fabian agenda.

Suffice it to say that there are many defeated moderate Dems who betrayed their convictions and voted in lock step with the extremist agenda who would disagree with the contention that the party was not radical lefty enough .

Democrats have reached an agreement. No more fighting over who gets what, Pelosi has claimed her rightful, well earned place as Minority Leader. Hoyer will be no. 2 at minority whip, and she's given the crumbs to Clyburn with a new no. 3 position... "assistant leader (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45077.html)."

Democrats are famous for creating positions that are not necessary.
I'm surprised she didn't call the position a "czar".
What "privileges" will come with this new leadership position? How much of the budget will be used to fund this new position ?
They could've avoided the controversy by booting Madam Mimi out of power.
You see Steve... The 'Boys didn't need to replace Phillips .All they really needed to do is create an assistant coaching position for Garrett.

Now that you mention it, Garrett's official position was "assistant head coach," and I'm pretty sure Jerry Jones is a Democrat so he probably gave Pelosi the idea. "Assistant leader," I still chuckle when I hear it.

Hello again,
Go Seadogs! Ok, never mind...
Looks to me, like the Republican congress is bent on vengeance rather than governing... Rep. Darrell Issa said he's going to have 7 hearings a week times 40 weeks. Ain't no time for governing there.. It's going to be even worse than their incessant attack on Clinton... Hold on...
The Republicans are missing the boat. They think they won because the public LIKED them.. Uhhh, no. They just hated the Democrats worse... How come they don't get this? Do any of you here get this?

I mentioned earlier that redistricting would come into play with all the Republican gains in state elections, take a look at this (http://hotair.com/archives/2010/11/23/the-republican-wave-isnt-quite-finished-yet/):
Of all the stories of the great Republican wave election of 2010, one of the stories that didn’t get wide play is just how dominant the GOP was in state elections. Republicans claimed a record 680 state legislative seats around the country, 52 more than the old record, set by Democrats in 1974 and 208 more than they picked up in the 1994 Gingrich Revolution. The right now controls both chambers of 26 state legislatures.
And the hits just keep coming. In the past couple of weeks, at least 11 Democratic state legislators have switched sides — one in South Dakota, one in Maine, one in Louisiana, two in Georgia, and four in Alabama. In Louisiana, the switch gives Republicans control of one house of the government for the first time since Reconstruction; in Alabama, the Republicans control both houses for the first time since 1874.

Happy Thanksgiving!Hello again, Steve:
And a Happy Thanksgiving to you...
Politically speaking, I'm happy too, for TWO reasons. It's clear that you and all the other Republicans are heady with the last election... You think the public LOVES you... That's a mistake. They don't.
The other reason is that with all the big talk, the newly elected Republicans will come up against the WALL known as, "the way we do things around here". And, the way "we do things around here", is NOT to upset the applecart... Let's take earmarks. This is the FIRST fight Republicans are going to have with themselves, and they're losing right off. SOME Republicans WANT to keep on giving themselves earmarks. And, by golly and by gum, they're going to continue to do so too, no matter WHAT the electorate said...
So, since I don't believe a thing will change in Washington, the Republicans will be discarded along with Sarah Palin in 12.

If the GOP plans on being a relevent party into this century they'd best heed the demands of the new guard.Hello again, tom:
Sadly, the Democrats buy into the same shtick the Republicans do. They're moving AWAY from their new guard - the one that elected Obama. They think the way to win is to act a little more Republican like. Big mistake. Democrats need to act like Democrats.
The upcoming tax debate is a perfect example. Corporate America just had its BEST quarter in 60 years. Corporate America is mostly owned by the richest of the rich. They just made zillions more this last quarter than they EVER have. But THAT didn't create any jobs. Plus, the majority of Americans oppose giving the rich another tax break...
Yet, the Democrats will cave, cause they want to act more Republican like.. Gaggg!
