"I have a Rain Dial (James Hardie Model RD 600) system that just stopped working (none of the valves work). Troubleshooting seems to indicate that I'm getting power to all of the solenoids/valves but one of the solenoids doesn't make an audible buzzing sound when I manually try to run it. I am going to try to replace the solenoid to see if this solves the problem. However, after trying to find a replacement, I ended up at a local hardware store where I found one that looks nearly identical (Lawn Genie L10000) except that it has an additional white retainer on the end of the solenoid that isn't there on the original. I did some more research and found a site that suggests that the L10000 will work but you have to remove the white retainer. Does anyone have any experience replacing a solenoid for this model system? Also, will one defective solenoid cause the entire system not to work? The Rain Dial manual suggests that it will but when I asked an irrigation systems person, they said they had never heard of that before? Any help on this would be appreciated."
