Ok I have this friend that is seeming to have self-esteem issuses. It worries me because out of no where she will bust out and tell me that she hates me or that I'm annoying but then say I'm just kidding. Then at times she will say that she is going to starve herself and become really skinny. And I tell her not to say things like that because it really worries me about her health. Now today she told me that she liked me more than she liked herself. And when I heard it she just swithed the conversation around and started talking about something else. She is a really beautiful girl with a lot of talent and smats. I just get worried about her emotional and physical health. When we text she's nice and sweet and kind. But once we get to school it all changes. I don't think it has to do with wanting attenton I think she might have low self esteem issues. Because everything is like a competition between us. She's really nice and sweet. Its just the ironic things she says that scares me. So anyone who can help please do because I'm really worried about her. Thanks.

How old is this young lady?
Could she be experimenting with drugs?
Ask some of her other friends if they sense something different with her.

She's 12 yearsold and Im 13 and were both in the 7th grade. And Im pretty sure she doesn't do drugs. But she is in a military family.

Well, it could be that she is 12 about to hit puberty, hormonal. This may all be pretty normal. As long as you are not noticing signs of depression in which case you need to speak to an adult at the school, just let her be her.

Based on the information you have given me, yes. I am a woman, I have raised a daughter. When girls reach a certain stage they kind of short circuit a bit.
Now you just said you are a warrior.
I think you maybe seeing more than is there.
I don't know about her home life, you say she is not on drugs. Young girls at that age have self esteem issues, especially as they are approaching puberty.

Are either of her parents deployed at this time or maybe in the near future?
