I have an older mobile home and there have always been problems with low hot water pressure in the showers. The cold water works fine in the showers. The sinks all over the house have decent water pressure for both temperatures. If I do not use the shower for a while, the hot water works good but after a few uses the pressure decreases and the shower barely works. I was just wondering if there is any way to fix this so I can finally have a decent shower at my own house! Thanks!

If this is just affecting the showers I would suspect that the mixing valve and/or cartridge is slightly clogged, how long since you last flushed your water heater? Since you say this problem has always been there it may be worth your trouble to check on the sizing of the supply lines to the shower. It was probably built correctly but who know who has worked on the shower over the years

As far as I know, the water heater has never been flushed. The water heater would have to be taken outside right? (Sorry, I'm new to this stuff) The pipes are plastic and have never been touched if that helps any. Thanks!

No, the heater is flushed right where it sit. Is this a standard tank heater? There will be a drain right near the bottom. Connect a hose to the drain and run it outside or into a floor drain or sink, open the valve and allow to run for several minutes well past when the water is perfectly clear. This will not fix your issue but will help to prevent further issues. Opening the escutcheon plate of the mixing valves is the next step, are you up for this?

Okay and sure! I'd like to know how to do this. I can get someone who knows a little more to help me out when opening it up. And yes, it is a standard electric water tank heater.

When flushing the heater you do not need to turn off the power or the supply line, let it flush with fullpressure for several minutes. OK let start by removing the handle.
