I didn't really rate Paranormal Activity myself, the ending was good and there were one or two creepy scenes... but for me it was 80 minutes of filler.

What kind of things creep you out? It's horses for courses. I laugh at the movies my mrs finds scary and vice versa.

My recommendations would include Creep, Candyman, The Descent, Shrooms and 28 Days Later.

If you want gore, then you can't really go wrong with the Hostel and Saw movies, or Frontieres.

If it's old school shocks go for Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist and The Shining.

For creepy atmosphere check out Ring (Japanese original), Ju-on the grudge, Rec, The Orphanage and Them.

Or how about the original version of Nosferatu (1922) - and if you don't find that scary at first just bear in mind that the star Max Schreck wore NO make up at all, just some fake fangs.
