I am a small restaurant / catering co. owner. We are struggling just to stay afloat and pay the bills. I had a question about my business account one day last week and didn't understand how they got to the balance that was posted, so I asked for an explanation. The teller put the manager on the phone and he immediately copped thi svery rude attitude with me basically saying that servicing my account took up too much of the bank's time?? He then told me that I had 10 days to close all of my accounts with the bank and leave. These accounts include a $1000 line of credit that is listed as a Personal LOC. I told him OK I can close all the bank accounts but I don't have $1000 to pay the LOC, however I will continue to pay it for as long as it takes to pay it off. I thought I was being nice and not hiding the fact that I couldn't pay it off. This morning I went on line and looked at my business account. It had over $600 in it and I did some shopping for the store and was checking out some merchandise, went to use my debit card and was declined. I was confused so I called the bank. They said they would call me back that they were having trouble with their computer system. I went home and went online and was dismayed to see that they had bounced all the checks that were clearing for the day and placed a $1000 hold on both the business and the personal accounts. I was not notified of any of this. They left me totally broke with no way to fund my catering business and buy the products I needed for my work tomorrow. I went to the bank and was told that they were allowed to do what they did and it was in my paperwork for the loan. I read it I am not a lawyer so I really don't understand what it says. I am in utter shock that this happened to me and I can't believe ti could be legal to damage someone like that with no notice or warning at all. They gave me no chance to borrow the money or sell something to get the money,NOTHING!! IS THIS LEGAL??
