I am a disabled grandma raising 2 grandchildren,1 has emotional, neurological disabilities.Their mother my daughter has remarried. She draws SSI,her husband works + other income. Because she didn't work enough to draw social security disability does she not have to pay anything to help? Her arrears are over the top, it's not a forgiven debt so what can be done? Out of pocket payment maybe? What are the chances of getting this law changed?

What state is this in? Also are you currently receiving benefits for the disabled child?

Some states allow for a spouses income to be included if little or none exists or if its being avoided altogether. Your state isn't one of them. Child support in general terms as far as the law goes runs in all kinds of crazy directions. So each state has its own laws etc. Wait and it may change.
